For all students entering grade 1 through grade 8, Hovnanian School requires a transcript upon registration.
Hovnanian School accepts students as young as two years old into the Early Preschool. For our youngest students, being ready for school depends on the individual needs of each child. As such, Hovnanian School offers rolling admissions.
We are a private, not-for-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational day school accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. Classes range from our EPS through the Eighth grade. (We also have our Hovnanian School Child Care Center on the premises for children under 2 years of age.) Professional multilingual instruction in English, Armenian, and French is offered from the earliest grades through the transitional years of junior high school.
We accept all applicants for our Child Care Center through the Eighth grade. Any child who has turned 3 years old by September 30th, may apply for our Nursery program. EPS, Nursery, and Pre-Kindergarten are not considered as day care, but rather as classes of active instruction, where students learn through age-appropriate activities. If the number of qualified applicants exceed available spaces, priority is given to full time students as well as siblings of a student enrolled in Hovnanian School. A waitlist is available, and we do offer rolling admissions throughout the year if and when spots are available.
The hours for EPS through Eighth Grade are from 8:10 am to dismissal at 3:15 pm. For those families who need the convenience of a longer school day, students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am. After-school supervision is also available from Monday – Friday at an additional cost. LEARN MORE
No. We welcome anyone who is willing to learn the language! We offer Armenian remediation programming for students entering any grade beyond early childhood where we meet students where they are at. Students do not need to come in with any previous knowledge of the language but must be open to participating and engaging in the content. Any student registered to attend Hovnanian School can also arrange 1:1 private tutoring with our tenured Armenian faculty.
Yes. All students must comply to the uniform code of Hovnanian School. The uniform code varies by grade level and can be found in the Student Handbook. Students should arrive to school in full uniform and school appropriate shoes. With the exception of watches, fine chains, and small earrings, jewelry is not permitted. Students should have classic haircuts. Extreme hairstyles such as mohawks style or mullet haircuts are not permitted. For safety reasons, roller sneakers are prohibited and everyone should wear flat shoes (maximum heel height is 1″). Sneakers are only permitted on gym days and designated uniform-free days. The student’s name must be written inside all uniform/personal items. There are several uniform-free days during the academic year wherein students are permitted to attend school in casual attire that adheres to Hovnanian School’s dress code requirements.
