FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

We are a private, not-for-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational day school accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. Classes range from our EPS through the Eighth grade. (We also have our Hovnanian School Child Care Center on the premises for children under 2 years of age.) Professional multilingual instruction in English, Armenian, and French is offered from the earliest grades through the transitional years of junior high school.

We accept all applicants for our Child Care Center through the Eighth grade. Any child who has turned 3 years old by September 30th, may apply for our Nursery program. EPS, Nursery, and Pre-Kindergarten are not considered as day care, but rather as classes of active instruction, where students learn through age-appropriate activities. If the number of qualified applicants exceed available spaces, priority is given to full time students as well as siblings of a student enrolled in Hovnanian School. A waitlist is available, and we do offer rolling admissions throughout the year if and when spots are available.

The hours for EPS through Eighth Grade are from 8:10 am to dismissal at 3:15 pm. For those families who need the convenience of a longer school day, students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am. After-school supervision is also available from Monday – Friday at an additional cost. LEARN MORE

No. We welcome anyone who is willing to learn the language! We offer Armenian remediation programming for students entering any grade beyond early childhood where we meet students where they are at. Students do not need to come in with any previous knowledge of the language but must be open to participating and engaging in the content. Any student registered to attend Hovnanian School can also arrange 1:1 private tutoring with our tenured Armenian faculty.

Your child’s safety is our number 1 priority. Every effort is made to keep the building and classrooms environmentally safe and physically secure. Teachers and school administrators greet students each morning and discharge the students at dismissal to the designated parent or caregiver picking up your child. The school also has a closed-circuit TV security system connected to a digital recorder. Hallways and outside doors are continuously under surveillance and monitored closely. Public health and safety inspections take place regularly and a full-time registered nurse is also on staff.

Hovnanian School offers transportation services to its students on a first-come, first-serve basis. Currently we have buses that cover specific areas in New Jersey, Manhattan and Westchester. Transportation reimbursement is available from most towns for students beginning in Kindergarten.
